The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) dictates that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) must be conducted before breaking ground.
Submission: Depending on the project’s scale, the developer’s registered lead expert must submit either a Comprehensive Project Report (CPR) or a full EIA Study Report.
Issuance: NEMA issues an EIA License (costing 0.1% of the total project cost, subject to statutory minimums) detailing the environmental mitigation measures the contractor must implement during construction
